Group Advocacy

Women Together Self-Advocacy Group

Our ‘Women Together’ self-advocacy group is solely for women with a disability meets every other Thursday, 10am - 11.30am at our office on Howard Street, North Shields.

The purpose of the group is to give the ladies a safe and supported environment to voice any concerns; these could be personal or about the community we live in. Over this last year our group have discussed a number of topics for example:- health, travel, housing, training and changes in our local community.

This year the group have enjoyed:-

  • Discussing current events happening in our Region.
  • Group coffee mornings to catch-up and chat with each other.
  • Visiting their local community centre.
  • A Health and Well-being Workshop
  • Keeping Well and Staying Well Workshop

If you would like to apply to be a group member or have a spare few hours on a Thursday morning and would like to become a group volunteer please contact us for more information.

The ladies are also very interested in trying new things and inviting guest speakers to their group sessions.  If you would like to come along to a group session and give a talk or demonstration please contact the office. or telephone 0191 259 6662
